According to the community monitors, vehicles bound for KATOBO in the high mountain of Uvira are forced to pass through LEMERA and MULENGE, always in the high mountain of Uvira, an estimated course to three times longer than RUNINGU – KATOBO. This situation has consequences, as the increase in the price of transport and several hours of road. From march 2015, the community monitors has mobilized others young volunteers from the BULINDWE village to plug some holes in order to allow vehicles to pass.
There are a few weeks that Caritas Uvira have announced the beginning of rehabilitation works by using the context of high-intensity labor (HIMO). According to Agence Presse du Congo, this long stretch of 65 kilometers will be rehabilitated through funding from the German Government and the Caritas Germany.
According to reports from monitors, work has not yet begun since its launch in June 15, 2015.
The community call the authorities to press CARITAS Uvira to rehabilitate this road urgently.
